A birth of a baby is one of life's most precious moments and an important family milestone!

Becoming a Mother or a Father changes your life and who you are. We gain not only a new status, but a new beautiful experience, new personal qualities, a new level of skills. Documenting this new beginning preserves what we feel holding a tiny human. When we look at images later, they immediately bring us back to that moment.

The baby you first fall in love with when he is born will look nothing like the three-month old that steals your heart with their giggles, or the six-month old that is full of belly laughs. Time flies by and before you know it, they’re walking, talking and exploring the world like a big kid.

Take the time to stop the clock and cherish that sweet brand new baby’s face with a newborn session!

“Enjoy the little things in life because one day you`ll look back and realize they were the big things.”

― Kurt Vonnegut

Where will the session take place?

Sessions may be held in my cozy and safe photo studio in Calgary SE, in your home, or even outdoors.

What is the best time for a newborn photo session?

Every baby is different, and you can decide on when you want a newborn session for your baby, depending on how you feel after giving birth, and how your baby sleeps or feeds.

For studio posed sessions it is recommended to come when your baby is one or two weeks old. During the first 10-14 days of life, newborn babies usually sleep deeply and can easily be posed. It's easier to open their palms and show their tiny fingers in pictures, and it's more comfortable for them to be moulded into an adorable position. The younger your baby is, the more likely we are to capture those 'sleepy' photos. It may also take more time to pose an older baby, and they may be awake through the whole session.

In-home lifestyle sessions are for babies up to 2 month old. We can use wraps and layers, as well as the outfits that mom/dad prepare, because most of the newborn props and outfits only fit babies up to 14 days old.

What is the difference between studio and lifestyle sessions.

Studio newborn photo shoot is a very creative way to capture your baby in the most adorable poses. The session incorporates the use of a special bean bag or posing bowls and baskets, wraps and blankets, soft little toys and other props.

Before the session parents can choose the main colours for the setups (3 setups are included), or it can be my choice of props.

Add-on options for the studio newborn sessions  can include photos with siblings and/or parents on a paper backdrop. You can check all add-on options in Prices.

In-home newborn photo session is a lifestyle session with some posing elements for the family. The main goal is to capture life in your home with your new baby, featuring lots of candid shots, showcasing your interaction with each other and the baby. Photos will be taken around the house: nursery, parent's room, or living room, and so on. This is a good option for parents who simply do not wish or cannot go to the studio. In-home photo shoot includes parents and siblings, but focus is still on the baby. Baby's solo photos will be taken in your arms and/or in a crib/on a blanket/ on a bed/ in a basket, wrapped in a swaddle or laying in blankets, curled up, sleeping, yawning, and just being themselves

For an in-home lifestyle session you are encouraged to coordinate outfits of all family members who participate and to prepare your baby's outfit because the newborn outfits I bring may not fit babies after two weeks old. I bring a basket, several wraps in neutral colors, and some simple baby onesies/rompers. The wraps can be used to swaddle a fussy baby if you desire. But please note that this is not a 'baby posed session in props'.

Outdoor newborn sessions are also lifestyle sessions and they take place in summer months, they are usually shorter and include one outfit. It's just because many babies protest at changing clothes.

Photo shoots in parks are also very special. You may want to consider this option if you like nature backgrounds, enjoy outdoor walk and do not wish to be limited by studio or home space.
